Naehwa-ri 3-story stone pagoda (Treasure No.51)
Naehwa-ri 3-story stone pagoda (Treasure No.51)
[Address: 48, Naehwa-ri, Sanbuk-myeon, Mungyeong city]
This pagoda was a 3-story stone pagoda of the age of Unified Shilla and the height is 4.26m. There was a temple named Hwajangsa that was established in the age of Shilla. But it was burnt approximately 100 years ago, and it is said that Buddha statues were moved to Daeseongsa near to it and only the stone pagoda was left.
Structure of the pagoda is based on single stereo bate and 3-story. The Sangryun part was lost.
The structure of stereo bate is different from stone pagodas with traditional features of Shilla, and it shows periodical difference as collecting decoration of Gapseok is omitted etc. Especially, the structure of the roadbed manufactured attached to Okgaeseok on the 3rd story is comparable to the stone pagoda in the age of Koryo that would come out next. That is to say, this pagoda shows the characteristics of the region that single-story stereo bate is omitted even though having the original feature of stone pagoda in the age of Shilla.
